Looking Back

Saw this challenge and thought it would be cool to look back. I started my healthy hair journey in February 2018, so I can’t go back a whole year. However, what I didn’t notice that the years of coloring my hair(8 years), using excessive heat by straightening my hair all the time, and not taking care of it at home the way I should on a daily basis wreaked havoc on my curls. My curls were looser, some were wavy, and some were near straight. My hair was drier and my curls didn’t have much life. I used to have hair half way down my back but then I wasn’t taking care of it right and I started cutting and coloring my hair. My hair looked great straightened out(far right pictures) BUT it didn’t look great curly—at all. I wasn’t happy. I decided on my birthday(Feb 21) that I was going to learn how to take care of my hair, nurse it back to health, grow my hair, use protective styles, and not use excessive heat(only use heat for hot oil treatments and deep conditioning treatments) for a whole year. It’s been a very enlightening year hair wise and I’m going to stick with it! I’m learning so much. Healthy hair is better than damaged hair all day any day. Thanks @naturally_genny for this look-back challenge. #fbfwithgenny ………………………………….. #naturalhaircare #lengthcheck
